My Promise to Connecticut: Let People Keep More of What They Earn

When I get to Hartford, one of the first bills I’m putting forward is designed to give REAL relief to the people who keep this state running. Connecticut has reached a point where working harder doesn’t mean getting ahead, it means getting taxed more. That needs to change, and it starts with three simple commitments:

1. No Tax on Tips

Our service workers are some of the hardest-working people in this state, often earning lower hourly wages and relying on tips to make ends meet. Those tips aren’t “extra income”, they’re part of their paycheck. If someone earned it, they should be able to keep it. It’s that simple.

2. No Tax on Overtime

A full 40-hour week belongs to your employer, but anything after that is your time. When you stay late or give up evenings with your family, you’re making a sacrifice. The state shouldn’t punish you for it. If you put in the extra hours to get ahead, you should actually get ahead, not watch the state take a bigger bite out of your paycheck.

3. No Tax on Social Security

Connecticut is losing retirees every year because the cost of living keeps climbing. People who spent their entire lives working, paying into the system, and building this state deserve the chance to stay here. Social Security should be something people can count on, not another line on the tax bill. Ending the tax on Social Security is the first step to making Connecticut a place where seniors can afford to stay close to their families.

Why This Matters

This isn’t about politics.
It’s about fairness, common sense, and doing right by the people who make this state work.

It means:

  • More take-home pay for workers

  • More time and freedom for families

  • More stability for seniors

  • More breathing room for everyone who is struggling to keep up

We can’t fix everything overnight, but we CAN start by letting people keep more of what they earn, whether it’s a tip, overtime pay, or their hard-earned Social Security.

A Better Direction for Connecticut

If we want a stronger, more affordable Connecticut, we need policies that lift people up instead of weighing them down. I’m ready to fight for that. I’m ready to fight for you.

And this is just the beginning.

PUBLIC SAFETY

Public safety is crucial, and it’s essential that we empower law enforcement to effectively do their jobs. Restoring order and supporting our police are vital steps in curbing lawlessness and ensuring that our communities are safe. Our system is designed to protect citizens, and giving the police the tools and authority they need is key to upholding that protection. We must work together to restore respect for the law and support those who are sworn to enforce it.
ENERGY COSTS IN THE STATE

Opening up the state's energy market to more competition is a critical step in driving down costs and providing residents with more affordable options. When competition is stifled, consumers are often left paying higher prices without the benefits of choice and innovation.
  • Increased Competition: Allowing more energy providers to enter the market will create a competitive environment that drives down prices. When companies compete, they’re incentivized to offer better rates and improved services, benefiting consumers.

  • Consumer Choice: By expanding the market, residents will have the freedom to choose their energy providers based on cost, service quality, and sustainability. This empowers consumers to make decisions that best suit their needs and budgets.

  • Economic Growth: A more competitive energy market can attract new businesses and investments to the state, stimulating economic growth and creating jobs. Lower energy costs also make the state more attractive to companies looking to relocate or expand, further boosting the local economy.

  • Lower Energy Bills: Ultimately, increased competition leads to lower energy bills for residents. With more options available, consumers can find plans that fit their budgets, reducing the financial strain caused by high energy costs.

It’s time to take bold action to open up our state’s energy market, foster competition, and provide relief to residents who are struggling with the burden of high energy prices.

EDUCATION

Empowering our youth with quality education is fundamental to building a prosperous society. I am committed to implementing policies that ensure every student has access to top-notch education, regardless of their background.
DEFENDING OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS

  • Freedom of Speech: This is the cornerstone of a free society, allowing individuals to express their thoughts, opinions, and beliefs without fear of government repression. It ensures that diverse perspectives can be heard, fostering open debate and innovation.

  •  Freedom of Religion: This guarantees that individuals can practice their faith without government interference, promoting a society where different beliefs can coexist peacefully. It’s essential for maintaining the diversity that strengthens our communities.

  • Right to Keep and Bear Arms: This right is critical for personal security and the defense of liberty. It empowers citizens to protect themselves, their families, and their property. It also serves as a safeguard against tyranny, ensuring that the government remains accountable to the people.

These freedoms are constantly under pressure, and it’s our duty to defend them. Upholding these rights ensures that future generations inherit a nation where liberty and justice remain paramount.
BUSINESS

Nurturing a robust business environment is vital for economic growth. I am dedicated to supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs to stimulate economic prosperity and create opportunities for all.
HOUSING

Affordable housing is a cornerstone of thriving communities. I will work tirelessly to address housing challenges, ensuring that every individual and family has access to safe and affordable housing options.
Keep men out of women's sports in Connecticut

The participation of men in women’s sports is a contentious issue that raises concerns about fairness, competition, and the integrity of women’s athletics. Ensuring a level playing field is essential to preserving the opportunities that women have fought hard to achieve in sports.

  • Fair Competition: Women’s sports were established to provide female athletes with a fair and equitable environment to compete. Allowing men to participate in women’s sports undermines this fairness, as biological differences give men an unfair advantage in physical competitions.

  • Protecting Women’s Opportunities: Women's sports have opened doors for female athletes to earn scholarships, compete at high levels, and achieve recognition in their fields. It’s important to protect these opportunities so that women can continue to succeed and inspire future generations.

  • Respecting the Integrity of Women’s Sports: Preserving the integrity of women’s sports means ensuring that the competition remains fair and that the achievements of female athletes are recognized and celebrated. This requires clear guidelines that respect the distinctions between men’s and women’s sports.

  • Supporting Female Athletes: Women deserve to compete on a level playing field where their hard work, dedication, and talents are the deciding factors in their success. Policies that prioritize fairness and equality in women’s sports are essential to maintaining this balance.
